Health and Safety Officer (Underground and Surface)
Job Description:
Virtucruit is partnering with a leading mining company in Saudi Arabia to appoint an HSE Officer within the Health, Safety & Environment Department.
HSE Operations: Assisting with the implementation and monitoring of health, safety, and environmental procedures across mining and drilling operations, ensuring compliance with company policies and applicable regulations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Implement, monitor and continuously improve the Company's Health, Safety and Environmental Management System.
- Ensure compliance with Saudi Arabian legislation, client HSE requirements, company standards, and applicable international standards.
- Conduct routine inspections of drilling rigs, workshop, warehouse, camp, vehicles, and other operational facilities.
- Carry out workplace hazard identification, risk assessments, and verification of critical risk controls.
- Participate in Job Hazard Analysis (JHA), Take-5 Risk Assessments, and Pre-Task Risk Assessments.
- Monitor compliance with Permit to Work (PTW) systems and Safe Work Procedures.
- Verify that personnel use the correct Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and maintain compliance with PPE standards.
- Monitor high-risk activities including lifting operations, working at height, hot work, electrical work, excavation, pressure testing, and rig mobilization / demobilization.
- Monitor safe operating practices during Diamond and RC drilling activities including rod handling, core handling, sample collection, compressor operations, mud mixing, winch operations, rotating equipment, hydraulic systems, and fuel handling.
- Conduct routine inspections of machine guarding, emergency stops, fire protection equipment, first aid equipment, and safety signage.
- Investigating incidents using recognized root cause analysis techniques.
- Prepare investigation reports and ensure corrective and preventive actions are implemented and closed within agreed timeframes.
- Deliver HSE inductions, toolbox talks, safety alerts, awareness campaigns, and other training programmes.
- Coach supervisors and drilling crews on safe work practices and behavioral safety.
- Maintain HSE records including inspections, incidents, audits, training, environmental monitoring, and statutory documentation.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly HSE reports as required.
- Conduct internal HSE audits and participate in client and regulatory inspections.
- Ensure proper management of hazardous substances, waste segregation, spill prevention, pollution control, and environmental protection measures.
- Conduct emergency preparedness inspections and coordinate emergency response drills.
- Monitor camp hygiene, housekeeping, welfare facilities, and occupational health requirements.
- Promote employee participation in hazard reporting, safety observations, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support management in achieving company HSE objectives and client performance expectations.
- Perform any other HSE-related duties assigned by management.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related discipline from a recognized institution.
- NEBOSH International General Certificate (IGC) in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent.
- Valid driving licence with the ability to travel to remote operational sites.
- Minimum of 3–5 years' experience in Health, Safety and Environment within the mining, mineral exploration, drilling.
